Don’t hate the Player, love the swing. Tiger Woods wins The Players Championship

Don’t hate the Player, love the swing.  Tiger Woods wins The Players Championship

Golfers have known about Tigers Woods for over 20 years, and have known that he is one of the best players in the game of golf that has ever played.  Some non-golfers in the world were just introduced to Tiger Woods a few years ago with some controversial personal matters.  Some people only knew Woods as a “playa” and not a “player”.  Well pay attention folks because Tiger is back and on the path to more wins.  With his 4th PGA Tour win of 2013, Tiger Woods wins The Players Championship.

While David Lingmerth held his own today and Jeff Maggert had a big run up the leader board, and Sergio Garcia didn’t have any complaints of Tiger that we know of today.  Tiger Woods was out there showing off for the most part.  It is really rather incredible how well put together and managed Tigers game has become once again.

Yes, as many of you know during Saturdays round Woods and Garcia had an exchange of words over Garcia’s feeling that Woods was being rude and disrespectful of him while he was trying to make a shot.  Garcia says that while he was about to swing, Woods took a club out of his bag 50 yards from Garcia which made the crowd around Tiger erupt for a moment.

Well that eruption is what upset Sergio.  But come on people, we don’t think that it was very obvious from the distance or something because all the people didn’t realize that Sergio was about to swing either.

We must mention the fact that The Players Championship has one of the largest purses of all the PGA Tour events.  A whopping 9.5 million dollars, which means that it’s a cool 1.71 million dollar take home prize which is great on anyone’s standard.  Tiger Woods came out on Sunday letting everyone know with his play that he was there and ready to take home another trophy along with enough extra change to buy a small island.

Yes, it wasn’t all showing off today, Tiger did have a few tough holes.  Hole 14 really comes to mind with that dirty double which knocked him back down to -12.  After the tense third round yesterday Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia were tied for the lead at the beginning of the final round as well as towards the end.  Tiger and Sergio were tied at Woods and Garcia on 16 they were co-leaders at 12 under par.   Then on 16 Tiger taps in a putt for birdie to take the lead at 13 under par, but Sergio answered with a birdie of his own on 16.

Did Sergio want to beat Tiger to bad?  The question came up on 17 when he hit his tee shot into the water on the infamous Par 3, 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass.  The island green has taken many players down with shots that can so easily end up in the water.  Then the second shot went in the water and ya couldn’t help but be a little extra happy for Tiger Woods and feel a little bad for Sergio Garcia.

On 18 the only player with a chance to catch Tiger was 25 year old rookie David Lingmerth.  He was going to need to score a 3 on the 18th to force a playoff.  It would be a tough thing to do anytime but really tough for a rookie trying to chase down Tiger Woods.

He made a nice attempt but ended up getting a par on the hole which means, Tiger Woods wins the 2013 Players Championship.

Being Tiger Woods fans we don’t mind updating our Tiger Woods Bio and Tiger Woods Wins pages…Smile.

For those of you curious this win means win number 78 for Tiger.  It also means he has won his 100th, 200th, and now 300th start on the PGA Tour.  A little coincidence but pretty darn impressive none the less.
